Re-elect Don Brown for County Commissioner

30+ Years of Experience

Commissioner Don Brown is the Chairman of the Macomb County Board of Commissioners. Since 1990, he has represented Macomb County, now representing District 1 serving Shelby, Washington, Bruce, Ray, Armada and Richmond Townships, the Villages of Romeo and Armada, and the City of Memphis and Richmond.

Brown has served as Ret. Brig General Doug Slocum’s Congressional Campaign Field Director and has worked as the Senior Outreach Coordinator for Congressman Paul Mitchell. He previously worked as Deputy District Director for Congresswoman Candice Miller, has served as Southeast Michigan Liaison for the Michigan Department of State, and as Associate Director of Governor John Engler’s southeast Michigan office.

Don Brown has also served as Chairman of the Michigan Association of Counties Environmental Affairs Committee and member of the same at the National Association of Counties, as well as on the Board of the State of Michigan Agriculture Preservation Fund.

COMMUNITY

Don is involved in the community in numerous ways, serving as a member of the Romeo-Washington Chamber of Commerce, Washington Lions Club, Macomb County Farm Bureau, North Macomb Sportsmen Club, National Rifle Association, Right to Life of Michigan, St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.

COMMITMENT

Don holds a Certificate in Executives in State and Local Government from Harvard University and earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Oakland University. Don is also a graduate of Rochester Adams High School.

EXPERIENCE

Don is currently Chairman of the Board of Commissioners and the $320 million Macomb Intermediate Retirees’ Medical Benefits Trust Fund. He has served as Chairman of $1 billion Macomb County Employee Pension Fund , Infrastructure, Audit Committee, Finance and Planning and Economic Development Committees. He has also serves on the Administrative Services, Health, Personnel, and Senior Services Committees.
